14th September - Club Night Report

Club Night Roundup: Vampires, Waaaghs and a Very Chaotic 41st Millennium
A busy night at Crit Happens on Monday 14th September, with fantasy battles, weird war skirmishes and plenty of action in the 41st Millennium. X-Wing also returned with a clash between two old enemies. Here’s how the evening went.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar
Ogor Mawtribes vs. Soulblight Gravelords – The Soulblight Gravelords claimed victory over the Ogors. Apparently, an enormous appetite is less useful when your opponents are already dead.
Star Wars: X-Wing
Galactic Empire vs. Rebel Alliance – The struggle for the galaxy ended in a draw. Neither side secured the decisive advantage, so the Galactic Civil War will have to continue for at least one more week.
Konflikt ’47
- British Commonwealth vs. Soviet Bloc – The British Commonwealth took the win in a suitably strange confrontation between two Allied powers.
- United States vs. Axis Totenkorps – American troops faced the horrors of the Totenkorps. The Second World War is grim enough before the dead start getting back up.
Warhammer: The Old World
- Nomadic Waaagh! vs. Empire of Man – The wandering greenskin horde swept to victory over the Empire. It turns out that walls, discipline and paperwork can only do so much when a Waaagh! arrives.
- Dwarfen Mountain Holds vs. Skaven – A victory for the Dwarfs against their oldest and least trustworthy enemies. Another grudge settled, although presumably several more were added along the way.
Warhammer 40,000
There was plenty of action in the far future, with Chaos making its presence felt and several familiar rivalries renewed:
- Chaos Space Marines vs. Chaos Knights – The Chaos Space Marines brought down their towering allies-turned-opponents. Chaos fighting Chaos rarely solves anything, but it does tend to leave an impressive amount of wreckage.
- Necrons vs. Thousand Sons – The Thousand Sons claimed victory in a contest between ancient technology and warp-fuelled sorcery.
- Tyranids vs. Death Guard – The Death Guard overcame the Tyranids. Consuming everything in your path becomes rather less appealing when everything is carrying several interesting diseases.
- Salamanders vs. Thousand Sons – Fire met sorcery as the Salamanders faced the Thousand Sons. Whichever way it ended, there was unlikely to be much left unscorched.
- Astra Militarum vs. Space Marines – The massed ranks of the Imperial Guard faced the Emperor’s genetically enhanced finest in a classic Imperial matchup.
- Raven Guard vs. Ultramarines – The Raven Guard took the win against the Ultramarines, proving that even the Codex Astartes has difficulty accounting for an enemy it cannot see.
- Space Wolves vs. Astra Militarum – The Space Wolves secured victory over the Imperial Guard. Subtlety may not be their greatest strength, but sometimes a direct approach works perfectly well.
