Club Night Roundup: Gold Trim Wars, Falling Giants and a PHR Family Dispute

Another week, another stacked night at Crit Happens. Tables were full from top to bottom with 40K, Old World, Konflikt '47, Trench Crusade, Dropfleet Commander and four RPG groups running downstairs. Here's how it all went.

Dropfleet Commander: PHR vs PHR

Sometimes you just need to run drills. The PHR took on themselves in a training exercise, which either means someone is getting very good at reading their opponent, or very good at reading themselves. Either way, the void was busy.

Konflikt '47

A rare outing for Konflikt '47 and the Axis came away with the win. Always good to see this one on the tables.

Warhammer 40,000

A full card of 40K this week with four games running:

• Thousand Sons vs World Eaters - billed by at least one person as the Battle of Gold Trim, this was a clash of two of the most elaborately painted armies you'll see. The Thousand Sons came out on top, which the sorcerers will no doubt attribute to fate rather than luck.
• Salamanders vs Custodes - the sons of Vulkan took down the golden boys. Not the result the Custodes were expecting but here we are.
• Crimson Fists vs Grizzled Company Guard Cadians - the Crimson Fists took this one, much to the relief of a chapter that has had enough bad days.
• Death Guard vs Raven Guard - plague marines vs shadow warriors. Always a good matchup of two very different playstyles.

Warhammer: The Old World

Orcs vs Wood Elves produced the game of the night by some distance. Two moments in particular will be retold for weeks:

First, a Wood Elf eagle spent what sounds like several turns chasing a single goblin around the board. The goblin, presumably, had the time of its life.

Then, the Wood Elf general stepped up and slew a giant in single combat. A heroic moment that lasted precisely as long as it took the giant to fall on him. Death by victory. A proper Old World ending.

Trench Crusade: Trench Pilgrims vs Antioch

Two games between the Trench Pilgrims and Antioch, with a win each across the pair. The trenches claim everyone eventually.

Downstairs: RPG Night

Four groups running downstairs this week, which made for a lively evening.

Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild and The Old Realm were both in full swing, and Peachfires: The Burden of Kings had its table deep in whatever trouble the GM had prepared for them. Four groups, four different worlds, all happening at once.
