22nd June 2026 - Club Night Report

Club Night Roundup: Slumbering Beasts, First-Time DMs and Plenty of Dice
Another Monday, another packed house at Crit Happens. Last night had a bit of everything across the tables: fleet battles in the void, 40K old and new, Old World grudges being settled, and downstairs a trio of RPG groups making memories. Here's what went down.
Dropfleet Commander: Scourge vs PHR
Kicking things off in orbit, the Scourge took on the PHR in a Dropfleet Commander showdown. The PHR put up a fight but couldn't hold back the alien tide. A win for the Scourge, and a good-looking game too.
Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition: Ultramarines vs Thousand Sons
One of the highlights of the night was a 40K 11th Edition game between the Ultramarines and the Thousand Sons, played on brand new terrain footprints and freshly printed terrain. Lots of rules to learn with the new edition but that's half the fun. Both players came away with a better handle on how things work now, which is exactly what these games are for.
The Old World Casual League
Our ongoing Old World Casual League had two games running, both cracking matchups.
Dwarves vs Wood Elves ended in a minor victory for the Wood Elves, which will no doubt be taken as a deep personal insult by the Dwarf player and recorded in the Book of Grudges accordingly.
Bretonians vs Nomadic Waagh went the way of the greenskins, with the Orcs claiming victory over the Bretonian knights. The league is shaping up nicely, expect things to get competitive as the weeks go on.
More Warhammer 40,000
Plenty more 40K happening alongside the main events:
- Astra Militarum vs Raven Guard - the Guard brought their tanks, the Raven Guard brought their tricks. A tight game.
- Necrons vs Death Guard - ancient machines against walking plague. Good game between two armies that love to grind.
- Tyranids vs Hearthkyn - the Tyranids won this one, consuming everything in their path as nature intended.
Trench Crusade: Trench Pilgrims vs Court of the Seven Headed Serpent
This one deserves its own section. Two games played between the Trench Pilgrims and the Court of the Seven Headed Serpent, with a win apiece across the pair. But it's the second game everyone will be talking about.
The scenario had both warbands fighting on top of a slumbering beast. Tactical, brutal, all going to plan until Turn 4, when the beast woke up and decided to eat everyone. Both sides consumed. Nobody won. Everybody won. Trench Crusade continues to be one of the most interesting games on our tables right now.
Downstairs: RPG Night
Three RPG groups were running downstairs and by all accounts it was a great night.
The Web Leading Inn had a milestone moment: it was Danny's first time in the DM's chair and by the sounds of it he absolutely smashed it. Rave reviews from the table. First sessions can be daunting and Danny made it look easy.
It Takes a Village (D&D 5e) continued their campaign, and Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild (also D&D 5e) carried on building out their world. Both tables were deep in it by the time we checked in.
A great night all round. If you want to get a game on, the best place to start is our Discord. It's where members arrange games, find opponents, and chat between sessions. Join the server, introduce yourself, and get something booked in. We're here every week and there's always room for more.
